Steps of Hair Care in Night

We  always care  our hair well during the daytime hours, but we not give enough thought to caring for our hair while asleep or in night when we are going to sleep. As our hair cuticles become roughened by rubbing on pillowcases. A tight ponytail at nighttime can also tear at our hair. We can make nighttime a restorative part of our hair care routine.

Step 1

Invest in a silk scarf or silk pillowcases, A silk pillowcase is less abrasive to your hair than a traditional cotton pillowcase. When you toss and turn, it allows your hair to slide across the pillow for less fraying and frizz. Or, wrapping your hair in a silk scarf before bed protects it from your current pillowcase and keeps it firmly in place while you sleep, no matter how much you move around.

Step 2

Tie up your hair with a soft hair tie if you prefer to sleep in a ponytail. Tight hair ties with metal pieces can tear at your hair throughout the night, and create pull around your forehead. Instead, use a soft scrunchy or bandanna to keep your hair out of your face at night. You'll reap the added bonus of avoiding annoying hair creases from tight elastics when you wake up.

Step 3

Wash your hair and enjoy a daily shower at night. Your hair will dry overnight and negate the need for heated styling tools that wreck and ravage your hair in the morning. Avoiding heated styling tools will allow you to gain healthier hair. If you don't like the way your hair dries naturally, try combing through a gel or mousse and braiding your hair loosely. In the morning, you'll have soft and healthy waves.

Step 4

Brush your hair only when styling, says "Good Housekeeping" magazine. While your mother may have taught you to brush your hair 100 strokes each night, brushing could be causing more damage than good. Avoid the brush at night completely, combing through wet hair only.

Step 5

Apply a small amount of oil to the ends of your hair before you go to bed at night. You can either use hair oil purchased from a drugstore, or you could use mineral or olive oil. The ends of your hair tend to be drier that your roots, so adding a little extra moisture before bed can help the ends of your hair look smooth and shiny. Much like applying moisturizer to your hands before bed, oil on the ends of your hair before bed gives the ends ample time to absorb the moisture for better results
